Issue(s) Addressed: To encourage and promote marriage and the well-being of children. The federal government proposed a healthy marriage initiative to help couples develop the skills and knowledge to sustain healthy marriages. Research shows children raised in households headed by married parents fare better than children who grow up in other family structures. Guest: Drs. Kevin & Joann Norton are Florida certified marriage mediators. To curb divorces Florida mandated such counseling to decrease divorces and help couples develop the skills to maintain their marriages. President George W. Bush maintains, “marriage is a union between a man and a woman, and my Administration is working to support the institution of marriage by helping couples build successful marriages and be good parents.” Through education and counseling programs, faith-based, community, and government organizations promote healthy marriages and a better quality of life for children. By supporting responsible child-rearing and strong families, my Administration is seeking to ensure that every child can grow up in a safe and loving home. Guests: Ronald & Candy Spada married since 1991 have three sons, Ron said that their marriage is successful because, he treats her as he wants to be treated. Candy said their marriage is successful because after work and weekends the boys play sports with their father, who coaches three teams every year. Ronald and Candy is committed to the boys completing their homework accurately. Guests: Flo & Joe Zardwoski have been married for 41 years. They met through Joe’s sister, after Joe’s first wife and child were killed in an accident. Thety were married and had three sons. As active seniors they say that each day has to be spent like it’s their last. Joe says he likes to spoil Flo and doesn’t wait for holiday to give her a small or large gift. Guests: Al & Marge Greene have been married for 51 and weren’t able to have children, but they believe they had lots of fun traveling and enjoying each others company.
